1970 Takamine “Den-en (田園)” No.70 Handmade Classical Guitar
Made in Japan | Rare Workshop Series | Legendary Vintage
£690.00
The Takamine “Den-en (田園)” No.70 is a rare early-era Made in Japan classical guitar from 1970, built by Takamine Gakki Seisakusho. Early “Den-en” label instruments are far less common than later production models and are sought-after by many vintage Japanese guitar collectors — a genuinely legendary conversation-piece that doesn’t come up often.
The original label shows “第七拾號” (No.70), and near the soundhole (towards the neck side) there is a stamped marking reading “45.3.4” (Showa 45 = 1970). This is also from Takamine’s early domestic-market era, before the modern English Takamine branding became standard, so it carries the original Japanese “Den-en (田園)” label instead of the later-style logo.
It features a spruce top with rosewood back and sides, delivering a warm, open vintage classical voice with clear note separation and a nicely aged, woody response. Fully cleaned, lightly polished, and freshly set up with comfortable, player-friendly action at approximately 3mm (low E) / 2.5mm (high E) at the 12th fret. Includes a hard case.
Condition is good for its age, with cosmetic wear such as surface marks and small edge chips — all purely cosmetic. No cracks, repairs, or structural issues. The neck feels stable, plays smoothly, and it’s ready to enjoy.
