The Yamaha FG-301B is part of Yamaha’s respected FG line from the late 1970s to early 1980s, proudly Made in Japan. Identifiable by its orange label, this dreadnought model features a spruce top with rosewood back and sides, producing a warm, balanced tone with excellent projection – a hallmark of vintage Yamaha acoustics.
This example is in clean condition for its age, showing light cosmetic wear (see photos). There is a crack in the outer rosewood veneer layer on the bottom side of the body, shown clearly in the close-up photos. This is a surface veneer crack only and does not go through the inner laminate or affect the structure. The back, bracing and binding are solid with no movement under pressure, and there is no impact on tone or projection. The guitar plays smoothly with a comfortable setup at approx. 3.0mm on the low E / 1.75mm on the high E at the 12th fret.
