1970s Yamaki YW-25

The Yamaki YW-25 is a classic vintage Japanese dreadnought, built in the 1970s during the golden era of Japanese guitar craftsmanship.

Made in Japan by Yamaki, the YW-25 was a well-built acoustic offering impressive materials and craftsmanship for its price. Today, these guitars have become increasingly appreciated for their distinctive vintage Japanese character and mature sound.

Built with a spruce top and beautifully figured rosewood back and sides, the YW-25 delivers a warm, full-bodied tone with strong projection, clear mids and a rich low end. The rosewood body also gives the guitar plenty of depth and definition, making it equally enjoyable for strumming and fingerstyle playing.

After around five decades of natural ageing, the guitar has developed a wonderfully mature and open voice. It has a particularly pleasing vintage tone — warm, resonant and genuinely very good sounding.

The guitar has been cleaned, polished and set up for comfortable playability, with a particularly low action of approximately 2.25mm (low E) / 1.75mm (high E) at the 12th fret, making it very easy and comfortable to play.

It has also been upgraded with a set of bone bridge pins (approx. £35 upgrade), complementing the guitar while retaining its traditional vintage appearance.

Condition is Very good for its age, with cosmetic marks, surface scratches and signs of use consistent with a vintage instrument of this age. The beautiful rosewood back and sides still display a deep, attractive grain under the gloss finish. Structurally the guitar is solid, the neck is stable, and it plays cleanly across the fretboard.
