1971 Suzuki Three S W-150

A lovely vintage Suzuki Three S W-150, made in Japan by Suzuki Violin Co., Ltd. in 1971.

Three S guitars were produced by Suzuki Violin, a long-established Japanese instrument maker. Their vintage acoustic guitars are appreciated for their traditional Japanese craftsmanship, characterful tone and excellent value.

This W-150 is a classic dreadnought-style acoustic featuring a spruce top with mahogany back and sides. After more than five decades, the guitar has developed a beautifully aged appearance with plenty of genuine vintage character.

Most importantly, it sounds very good. It has a lively, open and well-balanced voice with good projection and a warm vintage character. It responds nicely to both strumming and fingerstyle playing, with a pleasing resonance and clarity.

The guitar has also been upgraded with bone bridge pins, a nice practical upgrade that complements its clear and resonant acoustic character.

Playability is comfortable, with the action currently measuring approximately 2.5 mm on the low E and 2.0 mm on the high E at the 12th fret. The neck is stable and the guitar plays well.

Cosmetically, it remains in good condition for a guitar from 1971. There are scratches, marks and general signs of use consistent with its age, but overall it presents very nicely for a guitar that is now over 50 years old. Please refer to the photographs for the cosmetic condition.
