1973–74 Greco F-250

Made in Japan | Vintage Japanese Dreadnought | Rosewood Back & Sides

£390.00

This Greco F-250 was made in Japan in the early 1970s, dating to approximately 1973–74. A lovely example from the golden era of Japanese guitar manufacturing, it carries all the charm and character that make these early Made in Japan acoustics increasingly appealing to vintage guitar enthusiasts.

After more than 50 years of natural ageing, the guitar has developed a particularly beautiful appearance. The once-natural finish has matured into a rich amber / honey colour, giving the entire body a warm vintage glow that simply cannot be replicated by a modern finish.

The spruce top is paired with attractive rosewood back and sides, producing a warm and full-bodied acoustic character. The rosewood also has a lovely grain that works beautifully with the naturally aged finish.

Another particularly attractive detail is the original body binding. Over the decades it has naturally yellowed to a warm cream colour, complementing the amber body beautifully. Despite its age, the binding remains secure with no lifting or separation.

Tonally, the Greco F-250 delivers the mature character you would expect from a well-aged Japanese dreadnought: warm, resonant and full, with a strong low end, clear mids and plenty of vintage acoustic character. It works particularly well for relaxed strumming, fingerstyle and casual acoustic playing.

The current action is approximately 2.75 mm on the low E and 2.25 mm on the high E at the 12th fret.

With its warm vintage tone, beautiful naturally aged appearance and relaxed playing character, the Greco F-250 makes a particularly charming living-room guitar – perfect for casual playing at home, songwriting, or simply keeping close at hand whenever you feel like picking up a guitar.
