1976 Yamaki F-120

The Yamaki F-120 is a beautifully made vintage acoustic from Yamaki, built in 1976 during the golden era of Japanese guitar craftsmanship.

This example was made in Japan and carries an internal date marking of 11 March 1976 (昭和51年3月11日).

Built with a spruce top and rosewood back and sides, the F-120 has a classic dreadnought voice — warm, rich and resonant, with plenty of projection, clear mids and a beautifully rounded low end.

After almost 50 years of natural ageing, the wood has matured beautifully, producing an open and responsive vintage tone with plenty of character. This is simply a very good-sounding guitar, with the kind of mature resonance that makes vintage Japanese acoustics so enjoyable to play.

The guitar has been cleaned, polished and set up for comfortable playability, with an action of approximately 3mm (low E) / 2.5mm (high E) at the 12th fret.

It has also been upgraded with a set of bone bridge pins (approx. £35 upgrade), a tasteful upgrade that complements the guitar’s traditional appearance.

Condition is excellent for its age. The natural gloss finish still presents beautifully, with only a small amount of light surface scratching and minor cosmetic signs of use. The back and sides retain a deep, attractive rosewood grain and glossy finish. Structurally the guitar is solid, the neck is stable, and it plays cleanly across the fretboard.
