1979 Yamaha FG-401WB
Made in Japan | Ebony fingerboard & Bridge | Hard Case | Good Condition
£790.00
The Yamaha FG-401WB is a rare and highly attractive vintage dreadnought from Yamaha’s respected golden-era Japanese production period. Built in Japan in the late 1970s, the FG-401WB combines excellent Japanese craftsmanship, beautiful vintage styling and a rich, mature acoustic voice that suits both fingerpicking and strumming.
One of the most distinctive features of this model is its beautiful floral pickguard, inspired by the classic Gibson Hummingbird design. Together with its elegant natural spruce top, striking dark rosewood grain on the back and sides, and decorative fingerboard inlays, the FG-401WB has a particularly attractive vintage appearance.
This example is in very good vintage condition, showing only the expected signs of age and normal use. The guitar has been well preserved and presents beautifully, especially considering its age. Tonally, it delivers a rich and open vintage sound with warm bass, balanced mids and clear, articulate trebles — the kind of mature character that makes older Japanese acoustics so appealing.
Playability is excellent. The action measures approximately 2.5mm on the Low E and 2.0mm on the High E at the 12th fret, providing a comfortable playing experience. One particularly useful feature is the adjustable saddle system, which allows players to raise or lower the string action to suit their individual playing preferences without having to replace or modify the saddle.
A hard case is included, providing practical protection and making this a complete vintage package.
