1980 Morris WH-25

The Morris WH-25 is a rare Japanese-made vintage acoustic from 1980, produced during the golden era of Japanese guitar craftsmanship.

Listed in Morris’s 1980 catalogue as one of its Hummingbird-style models, the WH-25 was heavily inspired by the iconic Gibson Hummingbird, featuring a distinctive open-book headstock, large decorative bird-and-flower pickguard, ornate bridge, double-parallelogram-style fingerboard inlays, and a striking cherry sunburst finish.

Its bold colouring and elaborate detailing give the guitar a highly recognisable vintage appearance. This Gibson-inspired design is considerably rarer than the more commonly seen Martin-style Morris acoustics from the same period.

Tonally, the full-sized dreadnought body produces a rich and powerful acoustic voice with strong projection, a warm low end, clear mids, and bright, defined trebles. It works particularly well for strumming, flatpicking, recording, and vocal accompaniment.

The guitar has a comfortable action of approximately 2.5mm on the low E and 2mm on the high E at the 12th fret, offering an easy and responsive playing experience across the fretboard.
