1976 Yamaha L-5S – Made in Japan | Rare Sunburst Finish | Excellent Condition | Original Hard Case
The Yamaha L-5S is a highly regarded early model from Yamaha’s flagship L (Luxury) Series, made in Japan in 1976 during the golden era of Japanese acoustic-guitar production.
The L-5S is the rare sunburst-finish version of the L-5, featuring a beautifully graduated vintage sunburst that gives the guitar a distinctive and elegant appearance compared with the more commonly seen natural-finish models.
It features a solid spruce top paired with beautifully figured rosewood back and sides, producing a warm and articulate vintage voice with balanced projection, clear note separation and a focused midrange. It responds equally well to fingerstyle playing, flatpicking and full strumming.
Classic early L-Series appointments include an ebony fingerboard, ebony bridge, decorative body and neck binding, vintage-style Yamaha tuners and upgraded bone bridge pins.
The guitar has been fully set up with comfortable action measuring approximately 2.5mm on the Low E and 2.0mm on the High E at the 12th fret, with no fret buzz. It is comfortable to play across the fingerboard and is ready for immediate use.
It also includes its original Yamaha hard case, completing this rare and highly desirable vintage Japanese package.

🎼 Why buy this guitar?
The early Yamaha L-Series guitars are respected for their excellent Japanese construction, refined detailing and mature vintage tone. This 1976 Yamaha L-5S combines a solid spruce top, striking rosewood back and sides, an ebony fingerboard and bridge, and a particularly rare and attractive sunburst finish.
Its comfortable 2.5mm / 2.0mm action makes it considerably more playable than many acoustic guitars of this age, while the upgraded bone bridge pins help provide excellent clarity, definition and sustain.
The L-5S is considerably less common than the standard natural-finish L-5, making this an appealing choice for both players and collectors looking for a distinctive golden-era Yamaha acoustic.
A rare, highly playable and visually striking vintage Japanese guitar, supplied with its original Yamaha hard case.
