1980s Takamine Elite G-150 Classical Guitar
Made in Japan | Vintage Tone | Clean Condition
£385.00
The Takamine Elite G-150 is a vintage Japanese-made classical guitar from the 1980s, built during a period when Takamine’s craftsmanship and tonal consistency were at their peak. Part of the Elite series, this model represents Takamine’s higher-grade MIJ classical output and is increasingly rare to find today, especially in good, fully playable condition.
Made in Japan using well-selected tonewoods, the G-150 has benefited from decades of natural ageing. The result is a warm, mature vintage tone with excellent balance, clarity, and a smooth dynamic response — ideal for classical repertoire, fingerstyle, and expressive nylon-string playing.
Tonally, it delivers a rounded and elegant voice. The bass is warm and supportive without being boomy, the mids are clear and musical, and the trebles are sweet and articulate with no harsh edge. The guitar responds evenly across the fingerboard, making it suitable for both traditional classical technique and more modern crossover styles.
This example is in clean vintage condition, with only light cosmetic wear consistent with its age (see photos). No cracks, repairs, or structural issues. The neck is straight and stable, and the guitar has been set up to a comfortable, traditional classical action.
📐 Action (12th fret)
Bass side: approx. 4.0 mm
Treble side: approx. 3.5 mm
This action sits within a healthy classical range, offering good projection and tonal depth while remaining comfortable to play.

🎼 Why this guitar?
Takamine’s MIJ Elite classical guitars are becoming increasingly difficult to source. The G-150 offers authentic Japanese vintage craftsmanship, a naturally aged tone, and a level of character that modern factory classical guitars often lack.
Whether you are a player seeking a warm, expressive nylon-string voice, or a collector looking for a less common Takamine Elite model, this guitar represents excellent value and genuine vintage appeal.
