The Yamaha FG-300D is a classic 1980s acoustic guitar from Yamaha’s respected FG line, built during a time when Japanese craftsmanship was hitting its peak. Made in Japan and marked with the orange label, the FG-300D embodies Yamaha’s signature balance of tone, build quality, and reliability – now sought after by collectors and players alike.
This dreadnought features a spruce top with rosewood back and sides, paired with a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The rosette and binding are tastefully detailed, and it has a traditional black pickguard, giving it a clean, vintage look. The bone nut upgrade enhances sustain and tonal clarity across all six strings.
Tonally, it delivers a dry, punchy voice with great projection – the low end is warm and tight, while the mids and highs are balanced and clear. It excels in both strumming and fingerpicking.
This example is in good vintage condition with only minor playwear for its age (see photos). No cracks, repairs, or structural issues. The neck is straight, the frets and fingerboard have been professionally polished, and the action is set low and comfortable at approx. 2.0mm on the low E / 1.5mm on the high E at the 12th fret.
