1982 Takamine TD
Made in Japan | Lawsuit Martin Style | Excellent Condition | Foam Case
£440.00
The Takamine TD Series is a vintage Japan-made dreadnought from Takamine’s classic 1980s era — a period highly regarded for producing well-built acoustics inspired by traditional Martin designs. These MIJ Takamine dreadnoughts are known for their excellent craftsmanship, stable necks, and balanced, musical tone, offering fantastic value for players seeking a reliable vintage Japanese instrument.
This example belongs to the Takamine TD Series, although the exact model number can no longer be identified, as the original model marking on the internal label has faded over time. The guitar retains its original Takamine label, as shown in the photos.
Featuring a natural spruce top paired with beautiful rosewood back and sides, this guitar delivers a warm, open midrange with clear highs and a rounded, vintage low end. After decades of ageing, the guitar has developed a mature resonance and woody character that makes these Japanese vintage acoustics so appealing.
The guitar has been fully cleaned, professionally set up, and upgraded with bone bridge pins (Worth £35), enhancing clarity, sustain, and overall tonal response.
Action is comfortable and player-friendly, measuring approximately 2.5mm (low E) and 2mm (high E) at the 12th fret, making it easy and enjoyable to play across the entire fingerboard.
Condition is excellent vintage condition for its age, showing only light cosmetic signs of use consistent with careful ownership. There are no cracks, no repairs, and no structural issues. The neck is stable, the truss rod works correctly, frets are clean, and the guitar plays smoothly with the seasoned tone Takamine is known for during this era.
It comes complete with a well-fitted padded foam case, providing excellent protection while remaining lightweight and convenient for transport.
